Hi all,

Some guidelines for SE submissions.

Altavista
Pages per day = 5
Index Time = 8-11 days

Excite
Pages Per Day = 25 (been hearing that they have lifted the # to unlimited but not sure)
Index time = Months

Go
Pages Per Day = 50
Index Time = 1 week to a month and more ( never seems to be the same)

Google
Pages Per Day 10
Index Time = 1-2 months

INK /hotbot/Canada/MSN/AOL/ and all the others that use INK
Pages Per Day = 50
Index Time = Not Sure right now as they have been working with DB's

Fast /Lycos
Pages Per Day = 50
Index Time = 4 to 6 weeks

The reason I have posted these is that i have seen so many people asking "How many pages can I submit and when will I get Indexed.."

So here you are..

Have a great day

Dr. Bill

Not surprisingly, I've already broken every rule today. ;)

Your list is good with the turn around times on it. I should be keeping closer watch than that.

The only one I wonder about is the value of submitting to Go anymore? I've submitted 400-500 urls to them since june 1 and I've seen 10 added that I can find. Those were from sites listed in the directory already. What is the deal with Go/infoseek these days?

Brett,

I have no had much luck with go. I seem to miss their spider and never find listings but i get traffic. Go figure. I am looking at it a little bit more closely.
They are a bit of a uncertain engine IMO.

Brett, DrBill,
I thought go was dead too, but said 'what the hell' and started to do daily submissions about eight months ago. It has paid off, though they are very slow to update. I think they must be at least three months behind right now.

excite - I have probably submitted 60 thousand plus pages for new domains to them and am yet to see the spider.

littleman,

That spider :( I have seen him in the past but not in the last few weeks. When he comes he only grabs the page submitted and nothing more. I have no faith at all in excite. They say they only like the Root but they list others with url's as long as my ARM. I submitted the root before and nothing.. then came back and did another run and submitted the whole site and got a few interior pages listed. <shrug> no idea there.

Go only indexes pages it finds on its own so
you have to put links on your pages to your
other pages and just wait. If you submit a page
it won't put it on. It takes 4 months after you
submit a page for it to come around and "find" it.
