Submitting to local and global versions of search engines

Is there any advantage in submitting to both the local and global versions of search engines?

i.e. Google.co.uk and Google.com, Altavista, Lycos similarly

Hi Ian,

If you have local domains than by all means submitting to the local search engines will give you an advantage over just submitting to the dot com search engine as often times the local serch engien will give preference to the local domains.

If you do not have any local domains, I would still advise submitting to the local search engines if your market includes this geographic area as the local engine might be quicker to update than the dot com version.

It may also help if say a.com site has a .co.uk or whatever contact e-mail address.
