Which SE is the fastest to list?

I don't care how big or small or relevant the engine is, I just want to know which one will process your URL submissions the fastest. I just want to know so I can do some testing as I continue to learn the art of SE optimization...

For free it's Altavista.

I agree, from one to two weeks to get listed. Closely followed by Fast, and Google is the slowest (but still alive) to update. From two to tree months. This includes only non paying inclusions.

Yes, and according to my log files, it will crawl submitted pages right after you submit them.

If your pages did not show up, could you give us more details on when and how submissions were done? It is impossible to submit to AltaVista other than hand submission.

I believe double click provides sponsered links for AltaVista.

If you're after testing rankings, you'll find that FAST is your engine. AltaVista does do a quick spider but new pages are not ranked highly for a time.

In a recent page addition FAST outstripped AltaVista by 4 days. No-one else is currently close.

Cool. I'll try FAST. I've noticed that AV has a thing for older listings. Why is this? Is there a way around it?

I've submitted some new sites on May 27 and today I noticed that many of them are in the 11-14 positions on semi-pop keywords. It's not great for now but I expect it to move up more in a few weeks.

Getting this close to the top so soon is pretty darn good for Altavista. This beats a month or two ago when you would have to wait a long long time to see anything good.

Try fireball.de . They index within 24 hours, which is quite cool for testing new ideas. BUT: It is t h e European playground for testers, and fireball favors new entries. So your damned fast on Nr.1, and even faster on Nr.234...
