Someone here posted a reply to a topic giving reference to a web based Visual Trace tool. I must say it's a pretty neat little tool, however the links I found on that site seem to provide an abundance of information, much of which is way over my head. The tools I'm referring to are a part of what's called Looking Glasses for Public NAPs [nitrous.digex.net] I understand the simple ping and tracerout utilities, but can someone point me in the right direction to find information explaining what I'm looking at in query results from an access-list, bgp, bgp summary, environmental (looks like hardware temps), flap-statistics, and/or mroute summary? I know this is an awful lot to chew on, and I didn't find any information explaining the usage of these tools on the site so any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Those are mostly routing protocols for internet connections, you'll need to search for router configurations and their implementation of access lists, Border Gateway Protocol, Autonomous Systems, etc. the Cisco site may be a good place to start (but not great for learning), generally what you're after is how routing works and routing protocols. A search for "routing BGP" at google should yield some good results, have fun :)
