I am new to this discussion board. It looks like the place place to discuss spiders.
I found this spider, RPT-HTTPClient/0.3-2, really pounding on my site, at least once per second.
I cannot seem to resolve or find out anything about this spider, can any of you help me to determine where this spider comes from and if this spider actually does any good?

thank you,
Ken:)

It looks like the Java equivalent of the LWP module.
[innovation.ch...]
It's a GNU http client so anyone with some java skills could have used it to do some snooping on your sight. If you have an IP address I'll do some more digging.

www-ieee.ihs.com
The IP is behind a firewall of some kind or is unpingable for some other reason. It looks like IHS owns that class C [cgi-fun.hypermart.net].
Here is ihs's home site -> [ihs.com...] , are they a competitor of yours?

I don't think IHS is a competitor of ours. It didn't seem as though they manufacture any electronic components as Spectrum Control does.
Thank you for all your help in resolving this mystery for me.
