I'm seeing a lot more activity from applebot lately. Like vacuuming up the pdf documents on my site. Regularly. Anyone else seeing this?

Over the years I've noticed that many law-abiding robots go by pulses: every few months, maybe once or twice a year, they'll have an extra burst of activity. I've always assumed that in the “off” months, they are doing the same on other people’s sites. In my case, this has been a low month for Applebot. Using the crudest possible metric: July 2025 shows significantly less than 1/7 the total hits for calendar year 2025. So this must be your turn.
(Can’t speak to pdfs, since mine can be counted on your fingers, and it doesn't look as if Applebot has ever shown any particular interest. It may depend on the content of the pdfs: mine range from clothing patterns to grammatical tables to complete books.)

Quiet here. PDFs have not been hammered (and I have a few-many). Overall bot activity,however, has been off the charts, fully 80%+ of all traffic this month. We're all paying for it, some way or another, and that's the part that ticks me off.
