Notes is a database. Individual users have their own e-mail databases, and different sets of users can share application databases that can display, add, or manipulate information. Besides data, a database can also contain modules of programming code that will perform background, scheduled, or on-demand tasks for a user.

Last time I had anything to do with Lotus Notes was in 1995 ... and it wasn't a "net" relationship. Surprised they are still around after IBM took over the company

Huh. I coulda sworn I've never seen them in my life, but thanks to Multi-File Search I find this lone specimen (unedited):
218.75.27.72 - - [26/Apr/2011:20:39:34 -0700] "GET /.../duct_tape.html HTTP/1.1" 404 1035 "-" "Lotus-Notes/4.5 ( Windows-NT )"
4.5 five years ago, 6.0 today. Maybe in the interim they've learned how to parse relative links. Not that I have any idea where the quoted request came from; it appears to be a one-off.

Well, maybe it was 4.5 ten years ago. I looked up the IP; it's China.

It should probably be said that this attribute (Lotus-Notes/*.*) may be found in many browser UAs.
