How can we run servlets on the apache web server. Do we have to install some other program also to run this.

I looked into that once. I beleive the apache flavor is called Tomcat. There is a lot of others available that will run on *nix Like Enhydris that is around $100 or so....beyond that it gets to be big $$$$$$.
If you want to run server side on Apache you might look into PHP before you get too far off on JSP.
