"Your favicon? What would it want with me?"

Awright, wrong thread, but ### if I can remember the right one.

What does it mean when you get a HEAD request for the favicon-- only-- immediately followed by a GET request for same? Something to do with caching or bookmarks?

I don't have a record of the exact IPs (it's a DSL range in a good neighborhood), but have reason to believe there's a legitimate human behind it.

As you can imagine, "favicon + HEAD" is not an awfully useful search entry. But the last thread I tried ended with the words (not from me) "all AWS ranges are blocked, some with extreme prejudice"* which made me think of Pyramids, so it was worth the detour :)

* Won't look it up, but it means something like "tie their feet to a block of concrete and dump them in the nearest large body of water". Or, I guess, Internet equivalent.

Correct on both accounts. Checking for updates.
