seems to be from dubai, but i think it is some kind of proxy

If I remember correctly, everything from Dubai is behind a proxy, the whole country.

However, that doesn't mean there aren't bad things behind the proxy.

Check the proxy fields like FORWARD and see what internal IP is being used.

headers[X-Forwarded-For] was the same as the requesting ip, or does that mean the same thing?

some requests gave a blank referer, although others gave
gsa - online . de
no gaps i didn't want to give them a citation! - they seem to be a seo company selling various products

there was another header X-BlueCoat-Via ... which according to the bluecoat proxy site should be a different value for each request but it is always the same 16 character alphanumeric string.
