My first reaction was: Everyone cheer for the lowly faviconbot. Google has finally given it some clothes :)

74.125.75.20 - - [06/Jul/2011:19:19:33 -0700] "GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 200 542 "-" "AppEngine-Google; (+http://code.google.com/appengine; appid: getfavicon)"

Then I checked out the link and I'm no longer so sure :(

In my book, anything and everything "appengine" => 403, with allowances only on a case-by-case basis, e.g.:

AppEngine-Google; (+http://code.google.com/appengine; appid: downforeveryoneorjustme)

Even tho' that's ISP-spammy, I find it useful:)

The others? Yikes. [botsvsbrowsers.com...]
