Hi,

I am thinking of setting up my site to use Geo-Targetting by IP (IP Delivery) and would like to know about search engine spiders.

Let say I seting my main domain www. for geo-targetting by IP, so that when they go to it, they are then sent to there country website.

For example a UK IP is sent to uk site. and a USA IP is sent to us site, etc...

How do search engines hand this, do they have IP ranges, in most countries, UK, US, France etc...

The reason I ask this, is a year or 2 ago I was checking some IP's that turned out to be GoogleBot, but they all seems to be US IP.

Wasn't sure where to post this, so sorry if it in the right place.

Regards,
Garry

doesn't make sense to me.

create your country specific sites, and on each of those you can check for the user location, if it is different to the expected country serve them a pop up on the page which suggests they try the correct site.

the way you are trying search engines will all get redirected to only one site, most likely the usa one.

The point is.
If I make uk.domain.tld how do users know about it, other then know the direct address.

So I was thinking: on www.domain.tld to put Geotargeting by IP, to send a UK user to uk.domain.tld etc... like match.com who are on the first page (not a paid ad) does, and they seem to range high for the UK under set keywords other then match.

I have found out after making my post that Google can visit on different IP ranges from around the world.

The point of the question, was does anyone know do search engines, come from different IP ranges, other then USA.

I now know Google can, but I would like to know about Yahoo and Bing.

The other option is make www.mydomain.tld into a hub page with flags on it and then some info, but my only problem with that, is it maybe seen as a doorway page.

>>The point of the question, was does anyone know do search engines, come from different IP ranges, other then USA.

it's irrelevant, your page is only indexed once - you can't have multiple versions of the same page in the index, so wherever your page redirect too for the robot that visits that is the page that will be listed in the search results (in EVERY country)

... i will gladly stand corrected if anyone knows better than this.
