This is a valid bingbot, but they aren't putting the rDNS on the IP.

IP Address: 157.55.17.104
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; bingbot/2.0; +http://www.bing.com/bingbot.htm)

Got loads of those, have for a few months now! :(

Also got loads of both good and bad rDNS where the UA ends with an underscore.

I was at least expecting someone to ask me how I knew it was a legit Bingbot and not just some MS test or someone faking it via an MS proxy.

Very disappointing ;)

Still getting these errors on a handful of IPs in the range 157.55.16.0-157.55.18.255

Anyone made a decision in their favour? Or should we still block them until MS gets its act together? I can make an informed guess as to the legitimate ranges.

since there's already a bing thread active. . .

Anybody seeing FAKE Bing's?

166.137.12.zz - - [31/Mar/2011:21:20:00 -0600] "GET /jic/0038.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 65078 "-" "Bing/2.1 CFNetwork/459 Darwin/10.0.0d3"

My apologies, here's an old thread [webmasterworld.com]

I've got that IP range in a wirelsss provider's range so nominally dynamic DSL. Which would make sense only if an individual were trying it on?

I've decided to continue blocking the non-rDNS bingbots. You listening, Bing? Fix your system!
