Are all Kindles (still) run from/through Amazon-contracted servers?

If Kindles only access the Web courtesy of Amazon/sub-contractor servers, maybe that hit was via the "Kindle for the Web" beta feature? [
amazon.com...] Or maybe the UA was faked? Dunno.
Thoughts?
