I've had this question in my mind for a long time.

What I've seen from looking through my logs is that all the IPs accessing my site, that have the Gentoo name in their UA, are scraper sites of some sort. These IPs always resolve to a hosting service and never to a general visitor.

I've been blocking all those IPs, but new ones surface everyday, so blocking on an IP basis seems useless.

I've been thinking to block any IP that comes with Gentoo in their UA.

My question is: are there any usefull bots/websites that use Gentoo?

What's your opinion on blocking Gentoo?

Rather generic to block Gentoo. Might just as well block Linux, although a low percentage of actual humans will browse with either. IMO, it's best to continue blocking the hosting company's ranges.
