Just got this twice on the same site from two adjacent IPs today, about 20 minutes apart, and once on a different site four days ago. Only a couple of records on google so probably new.

UA: Facebook share follower
IP: 69.63.179.nn (three adjacent IPs)
IP Range: 69.63.176.0 - 69.63.191.255 (Facebook, Inc.)
Referer: none
Headers: none
Sites Returned: 403

First hit was to a specific URL (an actual product), today's both to the home page.

Any ideas what share follower is? I'm guessing a link checker.

"Facebook share follower" is the generic UA that Facebook generates when its members post a link "sharing" it between each other. I'm not sure whether it's just a link checker/validator or if these links are harvested to an index of some sort, possibly for future or yet unknown biz ventures.

I initially blocked it because of suspected image harvesting, but I haven't seen that behavior in a couple months, so I decided to allow it again and keep a close eye.

Another UA from the same IP range is:

"facebookexternalhit/1.0 (+http://www.facebook.com/externalhit_uatext.php)"

Which I believe is the UA when their members actually click on that link.

Thanks. I've seen the other one - and it auto-blocks itself, as does the new one.

I have to admit to being anti-facebook - probably not their fault entirely but it is rather hack-prone. I had yet another spam from them today.
