Previous known Droid UA:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.0; [language token]; Droid Build/ESD20) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17

Just seen:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.0; [language token]; Milestone Build/SHOLS_U2_01.03.1) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17

Does anyone know if this is legit?

Came across this one a few times recently. I have it marked as "report [Linux; U; Android] as mobile".

Android seems to be an operating system so the word seems reasonable within a UA. From a search for user-agent android, picked up from the first result (infinitezest.com): "Android itself is based on the Linux operating system".

Other results from that search confirm it's a phone OS of some sort.

One of my music students is a Qualcomm chipset analyst on loan to the Googleplex and has been developing Android. I'll ask him about various builds next week when I see him, although he always seems amazed what info (or lack of) is displayed in the UA strings of server logs.

However, it looks like there may be many Droid builds showing up: [developer.android.com...]

Yep, it is a mobile OS. First released in a phone known generically as a G2 by HTC. Droid was up next and I believe it's made by Motorola. This milestone build suggests to me, as somewhat confirmed by keyplyr's link that other phone manufacturers might be getting ready to release an Android-based phone. The rumors I've heard from a contact at Opera is it will be from Samsung.

There are a few Android phones out now, with LOTS more on the horizon. G2, Droid, Eris, HTC Hero, Samsung Moment to name a few off the top of my head that are out now.
