Robots Searching For .... ?

interesting question

Before I submit my site I wanted to get something cleared up. I definately want all the search engines I submit to to index and follow all my pages. Here is my question: My menu, which contains the links to all my pages is encoded in javascript so I could have my menu static and move down as the page is scrolled. Do robots only look for actual hyperlinks(<a href...)? Part of the script is located in the head and the part with the links located in the body. (ex. www.zon2k.com/graphics.html) Check out the source. I'm hoping maybe robots go though the source and pick out urls.

Thanks!!!

Welcome Zon2k,
You should have an alternative liking structure. Most spiders will not index js links.

I wanted to keep my same layout ... if I were to put all my links on my main index page the spider would pick them up right?? I'd probably hide them by making the font color identical to the background. Would this be a good idea?

Thanks!

Oh, no. That would be BAD idea. Most spiders have been flagging this as spam for some time.

In an ideal situation you should provide text links preferably using keywords as the linking text. Maybe have just the one link leading to a site map.

If this isn't aesthetically acceptable then use some inconspicuous graphic link but avoid single pixel graphics and wholly transparent gifs.
