IP: 208.111.154.**

Kavam used to crawl through Abovenet now they're running through Limelightnetworks.

Now this really makes them look fishy.

ban or not to ban.

There's a couple other threads on Limelight.

Personally, I deny, however each webmaster must determine what is beneficial or detrimental to their own site (s).

I wish they would slow it down some AND identify themselves and what they plan on doing with Kavam.

I saw them recently as well and I promptly denied the 208.111.154.nnn range which is what I do with any crawler that has nothing to show that could be of benefit to my sites.

Kavam.com Inc. manufactures and markets software solutions for corporates

this is most likely a corporate search for intellectual property rights violations...

I actually called them a few weeks ago about their little bot and they told me they were "one of the good guys" and that it was for future search applications. It does make sense now that they are doing property stuff much more money in that.

Last year that was a big deal in our industry and one gun-ho attorney in florida used to send us harassing letters every few weeks. Claiming we were using images illegally. they were just shooting in the wind since we were authorized dealers of all of them. One time they actually tried to get our site shut down with our isp. They'd never even bothered to call the manufacturer to see if we were OK. They were getting paid for each letter then sent out and each call so they were making their money regardless of whom ever they contacted.

I did however make it all stop once I notified them that they were helping companies violate anti trust laws regarding coercion techniques. Probably helped that I set an alert to send him emails any time a story on anti trust lawsuits were filed. yea .. I'm mean but they were wasting my time. Miraculously it stopped.
