Google IP Range - blank UA and no Referrer

Blank User Agent from Google IP range getting 403's

I block blank UA requests and am seeing quite a few hits from 72.14.193.xx without a User Agent. Anyone else seeing these? Any idea why someone from that IP is requesting pages without a referring URL and also without a UA?
