Seen that too... No rDNS, no access. Sorry.

Interestingly, Ask has now posted a recommendation that you check rDNS [about.ask.com] on their robot info page. So I can only assume these requests on non-resolving IP addresses are not from Ask.

I've seen this one around for awhile now and usually the fakies don't last that long... that's what really has me wondering.

I agree, I've had this one on my list for months, and wonder why the rDNS doesn't resolve to Ask... They said to check it, and I do!

It's probably genuine. I looked up the whois information for that ip address and compared it with the whois information for some well known ask/teoma crawler ip addresses and they match.

I'm not suprised though. Even Googlebot crawls from addresses that have no revdns, and they too tell us to verify their bots with the same method.

I have only seen it once from 63.123.238.8 on 2007-01-18 15:25:00.000 and never again. I have no other data for ips in 63.123.238.0 to 63.123.238.255 range on the sites which I watch.

Here is the header information that I collected from it.
