any thoughts on just blocking ip's from china?

i seem to get hit a fair bit by what i assume are bots/scrapers/whatever from china ip's.

as a retailer who doesn't ship there anyway - i'm thinking of just blocking all ip's that according to my list are from china.

... could i be making a mistake? i'm figuring that if the next google happens to be based in china i could then unblock when the time comes, they would index me soon enough.

I've been doing it for some years and I'm not alone.

If you sold Men's shoes?
Would it make much sense to attempt to sell your items at Fashion Bug?

Fat chance that will happen in either your or my lifetimes.

Block them and comment in your file...

// Great Firewall of China

Ok, bad pun...

Seriously, I had most of Asia blocked for a few months until I got the problems under control with scripts and such before I opened the doors again.

thanks i was thinking along those lines ...

so for now it's bye bye china - until i've got a decent system for filtering out the scrapers and bad bots, then i'll unblock.
