1x1 pixel links on index page

Hi to all,

Just wondered if anyone out there could give me some hints on using 1x1 pixel links on my index page.Do I link from this to a hallway page or do i put enough links on my index page so that I cover all of my doorways ???

I'm still very new at this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would use the doorways to link to the index and then use the 1x1's to link to other pages within the site (not the doorways) and then have maybe one link to a hallway that links back to all the doorways.

What about including only one 1x1 pixel in the index page that links to a "directory" page...The directory page would essentially be a page full of text links with the title and description of the sites...All of the links would have to be relevant to each other...

Would this work? I know all engines, except Go, claim to be deep crawlers...however, how accurate is this?

Would the index page of that site be penalized because it only has one outgoing link (apart from links to other pages within the site)??

Theoretically, the link popularity should be good because that site will have many incoming links...but they will be "second level" links...(site A, links to Directory, that has a link to site B...therefore site A and site B are also linked)...etc (with all of the sites included in the directory)...

Does anybody have any experience with this? How effective is this?

Because I use javascript nav bars, I need something to carry the spiders to internal pages, so this is exactly what I do (except I'm paranoid enough not to use 1x1, I use another size). It seems to be working out as planned, though this is an old site and many of its pages appear to be burned into the older SE's on some kw phrases.

I would follow RCs advice and create several images of various odd sizes, don't even make them square (thinking outside the box) and use them as your hidden links. The tinys are too easy to spot, who would use 1X1 for anything but filler and spacing? A link from one is basically useless unless spam,soooo...so let's mix it up and see if the SEs can catch up! ;)

So this is in fact an effective approach in terms of link popularity?

2M, I don;t think Inktomi likes image links too well, at least the 1x1 kind,Google loves them.
