200 connects from spiders?

I had a few IP's hitting my servers hard lately, hundreds of connections at once

Do spiders open that many connections at once?

I thought it was a hack script sucking some of BW up

I banned them when I saw them

Now I'm thinking it might have been a thirsty spider bot

you can always use an ip lookup tool to see where it is coming from or who owns that particular ip.

and yes, spiders do sometimes get very overzealous. There are also sometimes rogue spiders that create havoc as well.

Yeah, spiders can suck us BW. Just ban the ip using htaccess. You can look up the ip here, [centralops.net...] .
