I am getting visits from a number of crawlXX's from alexa.com. This is new to me and I was wondering whose spiders they are. I havent seen them before the last day or two.

There are mixed messages about Alexa and spyware. To me it just sounds agressive, but you might want to research it in depth.

I just got some spammy email about Exactseek using the Alexa rankings and "other factors" in their new ranking algo. Could be related?

Alexa's bot is used to: populate the waybackmachine (a huge archive of the net), add some of its own flavor to Google's search results for its site, check up on Amazon affiliates, and sell your site's content to other people. Their toolbar is considered as spyware by some of the scum detector software.
