Scooter/3.2 doing weird things on my site

What is this all about?

I get emailed various things about my site, one of them is 404 messages... Scooter/3.2 has been behaving very strangely as of late:

it was trying to find www.beezer.com/8 ... it keeps trying to find weird pages like that (its tried: /8, /9, /a, /7, /16, etc)...

ARIN says its from AltaVista... What's going on here?
