Looks like an email list builder. No "real" address info, or about us on the site.

Hmmm ... the domain is registered to Cipinet, Los Angeles, California - the ip 203.122.61.30 is New Delhi, India ... suspicious. How is the bot behaving? Obeyes robots.txt?

Hello Everybody,

I glad that you have posted about my website called Cipinet Search Engine. I would like to clarify your doubts about Cipinet website.

Yes, it’s a search engine which was launched by me on August 16th 2002. It’s not a big search engine like the ones you are familiar with already. I am slowly but surely building up the database. I have about a million websites indexed till date.

For crawling and indexing, I have a bot named CipinetBot which does obey robots.txt and index, noindex, follow, nofollow tags as well. It indexes Title, Description, text, keywords, and last modified and last updated date. It does not index email address which I would like to clarify to Yidaki.

Fiestagirl, we are not building up email list at all. On our URL submission page, we ask for email address only because in case we want to contact them about their website, we can. I admit we did use email addresses for about one week to send newsletters, but stopped it because recipients were against it. This was somewhere in May 2003. Now we keep email addresses for two months at the most just in case we need to contact them and then the list is deleted. These email addresses are neither shared nor sold to anyone, not even our affiliates.

Yidaki, you are right about domain name registered in Los Angeles, California. I did register it there. I am a resident of USA and my origin is from India. So being right now in India and my bot with me, it is crawling and indexing from India. I hope you are not suspicious anymore.
