... yes, I saw this bot 2 days ago, starting spidering without looking for a /robots.txt and consequently running into my /bot-trap/ to lock out itself ... hmm ...
63.121.41.174/175/176 GalaxyBot/1.0 (http://www.galaxy.com/galaxybot.html)

Sad too admit that PR is an invalid tool for me.
Installtion of the google toolbar which expresses PR ranks requires ActiveX which I have turned off.

Why not just switch it to prompt?

That way you can run the ones you want and deny the ones you don't?

Cheers,
Nigel

Nigel,
I believe we are speaking of different things here?

Installtion of the Google Toolbar requires a functioning Windows based ActiveX plug-in.
I have ALL ActiveX disabled, as well as most scripting.
Although most of the settings are now at "prompt?" The installation appprently requires ActiveX operation.

I will not entrust my data to Google or any other software maker by allowing ActiveX to function in a way which is not viewable and pre-defined to me. Most of all, I won't take a chance on corruption of my registry.
This is one of the precautions, which have insured preservation of my data for over seven years, without the use of preventatuive software. (I'm attempting to express something here in an open forum that is sensitive.)
In all that aformentioned period, I've had one instance of contraction. That occuurred at a time when I switched both computers and OS simultaneously. The realization occurred almost immediately and has not happened since.
Considering the internet ground I travel and the data I move that is quite a mouthful.

BTW even when I visit the the Microsoft site? I do not allow ActiveX functions.
