freeze

User agent is just 'freeze', came in three times from geniune off site links (same site different pages), taking just text files (the same ones each time) no images, all in the space of one hour. About 8 different IP numbers, 217.7, 212.35, 208.27, 63.109, 194.228, 200.210, 211.233....
Each visit was 'coherent', not at all aggressive, clearly the same person.

how can you be sure that it is the same person? if it is, they are surely all over the net...

Well i can't ( i shouldn't have said 'clearly' though) but it was happening at around the same time as I said and with referrals from the same site and the exact same pattern of activity, that is, taking index/frameset with its three dependent pages, with css file, but no images and then leaving. And how many people/browsers have UA "'freeze'"?

The only thing I can think of is a link checker but yes I can't work out the different IP's either.

Is it possible to fake IP address?

The changing IPs could indicate that it's some kind of distributed application or that they are routing their request through a set of proxies.
