The point I was trying to make was that when IP ranges are banned, there are some innocent people who pay for the sins of the guilty.

Rather than hijacking another thread this seems more appropiate. We do however need to keep in mind that this is a bit off topic for this forum.

A short while back I bookmardked a response in another thread which concerns the innocent as related to what ends webmasters must partake as a result of lack of compliance by ISP's and backbones.

There comes a point in all business where the operator needs to determine their relavant clientle and their clientele's overall needs.

As much as you see and jest here, there are also things which are not seen.

I HAD portions of the US denied as well.
JD can tell you that I've made an extensive effort to open up my sites to the Oceanic reigon by separating those IP block ranges from the FarEast IP ranges. The reason being is that I have benefical traffic in the Oceanic reigon however desire none from the FarEast.

In RIPE the market of mywidgets just presents a drain of my resources with no chance of recovering expenses.

In the US the market for mywidgets is concentrated in the eastern US and the farther west you go (in the US) the lesser the mywidgets market exists.

California widgets in my example has a smaller market than than Oceanic Widgets. As a result I lost my tolerance for Qwest and PacBell website intrusions long ago.
The same can be considered of SouthWest Bell where mywidgets are non existent. No reason to cater to that traffic, it won't gain me any more market share.

And on and on. . . Some times its just not as simple as it looks. ;)

It took me some time to find what message you were quoting. Looks like it came from message 14 in the weird robot - 216.231.54.187 66.14.117.87 & C [webmasterworld.com] thread.

My apologies takagi.

Guess I served my purpose in distancing my self from that thread ;)
