These are a bunch of weird UA I have seen lately that seem to be employing some sort of bot or script - has anyone seen them or know what they are?
Does anyone know if there is anything that uses this UA that is valid?
UA: Mozilla/3.01 (compatible;)
IP: Way too many to list
I have heard it is used by a lot of proxy servers - but cant find which proxy software returns that. A LOT of my traffic that sends that referrer seems bogus - 85-90% of all traffic with that UA.
These two came in from the same IP address... the second one seems to be a very dumb bot. The IP address was 24.197.0.6
which is listed to charter.net - and seems to be the source of a lot of bots, scripts and more on our servers lately (though usually with easier to identify UAs like Mozilla/3.01 (compatible;)
UA: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; Terra Industries)
IP: 24.197.0.6
UA: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; DVC IA R1; YComp 5.0.2.6)
IP: 24.197.0.6
Thanks for any info...

The visits were enough to alarm me, however not enough to promote any action offsetting the loss of regular visitors.
Thanks for the heads up.
