could "netscape 5" be a spider?

I've recently been trying to identify what SurfStats reports as Netscape 5 and came across an unusual log that had a lot of such reports and was mostly composed of this agent string:

Mozilla/5.0+(compatible;+Konqueror/3.0.0-10;+Linux

I haven't been able to find this in any of the lists of agent strings (latest Konqueror was 2.2), but it was certainly acting like a spider on our site rather than a browser. Anyone come across it before or know what it is?
Thanks

BillM,

welcome to WebmasterWorld. [webmasterworld.com]

You did not provide an IP address for Konqueror. But I suppose it was this similar to this I have too:

64.156.198.74 - - [17/Mar/2003:14:31:39 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 403 - www.me.net "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312465)" "-"
64.156.198.74 - - [17/Mar/2003:14:31:39 +0100] "GET /a/b/ HTTP/1.1" 403 - www.me.net "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.0-rc3; i686 Linux; 20020823)" "-"

the IP is rotating through a list if UAs. If it was that IP you might find information at

Thanks Jan, been intending to join in for a while but seldom enough time.

In fact it wasn't that ip address but this one:
217.157.17.66
which appears to be from a block owned by a company called Cybercity in Denmark.

If I can't find anything else about it I'll try writing to them. It may be a genuine new version of Konqueror but the way it hoovered the site it certainly acted like a spider.

Interesting thread about websense though - thanks for that, I'll keep an eye out for them too.

regards

It certainly can be a spider. Spiders can be named whatever the user/creator wants them to be. Yet you should know that Konqueror is a *nix (mostly Linux and BSD) browser. It is part of the highly regarded KDE desktop. The very latest Konqueror would actually be 3.1.
