Hi:

Just saw this today (from the error log):

[Mon Dec 16 08:19:10 2002] [error] access to /hd2/web/c/cartoon/public_html/pagebeamer.txt failed for 195.68.5.158, reason: Bad IP: 195.68.5.158 (Beamer 2.1 (build Nov 25 2002 18:41:50))

When I looked at this in access log, I get:

195.68.5.158 - - [16/Dec/2002:08:17:19 -0700] "GET /pages/images/xxx.gif HTTP/1.1" 200 161 "http://www.xxxx.com/xxxxx/" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0; H010818; Hotbar 4.1.8.0)"

A little research on what beamer might be led to this:

www.pagebeamer.org/

A browser plug-in for a page accelerator. Seems real clunky when the surfer has to have the plug-in and the webmaster has to have the pagebeamer.txt file set up that predicts the next page. Isn't there already a plug-in out there that grabs the links on the current page and preloads these? Much simpler.

What worries me most is that surfers "fear the too long withdrawal periods" at web sites. Just love those online translators.
