Neither Goggle or WebmasterWorld's searches using the keywords "Csice-Agent" produced anything other than log entries.

Unless you have clientele or are seeking clientele from the far east? Why even allow the visits?
It's a waste of your bandwidth and only makes you more prone to duplications and intrusions.
I've had almost the entire range
210.160.0.0 - 210.175.255.255 denied for some time.
Of course that is my personal preference.

Well wilderness, it's like this. I accept visitors from all over the world. Feel free to check out my hobby in my profile if you wish, you'll see why I say that.

Unless Csice-Agent is some type of downloader or other obtrusive gadgetry, I could care less. However, if it is then I would most definately ban it.

I don't pretend to know much about the terminologies used to name these things.

Truth be told, that MFC_Tear_Sample (or whatever the last word is) was a new one on me until last week. See, I was thinking Tear as in 'sorrow' rather than Tear as in 'rip'. In this case, I don't have a clue whether Agent is meant in the negative sense or not.

I figure the only way to find out, is to ask.

Have you gained or lost page rankings since converting to this newer format?

The reason I ask is because my sites started out similar (albeit a different subject) to yours some three+ years ago. I was fortunate to realize almost immediatelt that most competitors were looking the same design direction and decided to expand content :-)

Were your older pages more content based than the current versions?

No, not really. The formatting of my individual indices has pretty much stayed the same with exception to splitting the more heavily link laden ones into smaller (a-d, e-j, etc.) files. Initially, most of my viewers were those using WebTV Internet Terminals and page size is/was critical.

(That's the impliment I used to put my domain together back in '95 on Tripod, prior to my first PC purchase in '97, registering the domain name and moving to a true host server in '98.)

Once I got clued in, then cross browser viewability became central to me. With minor exceptions my domain has always been "Best viewed in Any Browser" when using an IBM based platform. Don't know how it looks on Linux or Mac.

The major changes late last year were both the layout of the front page (from three columns to four in an effort to shorten the scroll length) the re-naming of each pathway/index to a more keyword friendly format (ABCulture.html became Aboriginal_Culture.html, EnviNews.html became Environmental_News.html CitGuides.html became Citation_Guides.html and so forth.) and the adding of new disciplines.

Actually, the entire site is one huge amalgamation of keywords. In business it's location, location, location and on the Internet it's keywords, keywords, keywords.

Hmmmm. PR hasn't really been an issue for me. (can 'ya hear the gasps of shock and horror in here? <chuckle>) Rather, I've strived to find educational websites that were WebTV friendly.

Back then I was pretty much the first to review and assemble educational sites that my fellow LBB (Little Black Box) users and I could utilize. I had just enrolled in college, as a returning adult student, and needed online resources.

The PR I enjoy now came about because of hard, selective work rather than a concerted optimizational effort. Fact of the matter is, I wasn't truely aware of PR until roughly six months ago.

Very understandable. There is lots of competition out there for those who choose to compete. I don't make any money for my work, never did and never expect to. The true ban of an altruistic existance I suppose. Anyway, quality of content is everything as far as I'm concerned. That is what keeps viewers coming back and all those favicons in the log files. If they like 'ya, they use 'ya. :-)

As it goes, that's one of the reasons I like to know whether these type programs are downloaders or not. While there isn't much unique about my domain, I'd just as soon not have the links I've taken years to amass, stolen with the click of a mouse.
