had a visit from this bot yesterday. Anyone know anything about it ?

It hit my index and all the links from it but did not go for a deep crawl.

Did it fetch/obey robots.txt?

Just checked. It did not grab robots.txt just went straight to the index and then the links from the index.

I saw that it seems to be coming from Canada but can't find anything else.

Any ideas ?

Here's a page [hr.uoregon.edu] from the University of Oregon where that exact string is suggested to fake the UA, using an anonymyzer named Squid.

There are a few stats pages left open to Googlebot that also report the same.

Thanks tedster. I did read through that link and did a search on G88gle and found the pages you mentioned. Seems consistent with what I saw.
