Has any one seen him before and know if his intenions are honourable? The web site [laurion.net] was less than helpful.

When I look up laurion.net it is registered in France; their nameserver is given at the IP address you mentioned (216.40.195.62), but this resolves to lebac.net which also appears to be French.
I'm looking all this up at a service on name.space [name-space.com] as I don't seem to be able to access [url=www.whois.net]whois[/url] which I'd normally use. I assume their records are ok (I've never had any problems before).
Where are you looking up your info, and where am I going wrong?

As a matter of interest is there a page/discussion within webmasterworld containing useful on-line resources? The level of info here is so high that I'd be interested to see what other sites webmasterworld users recommend. Anyway pehaps that is something for another discussion.
Back to IPiumBot, he seems to have left me some-time on Sunday, but I'm going to have a look through my logs to see what other traffic there is from the IP ranges you gave. Thanks for your help.
Check out the library [webmasterworld.com] here at the top of the screen. You might find that invaluable.
Seriously while its good to see some of the most important discussions highlighted (and I will spend some time going thru the library now I've seen it) I still think some sort of resources page might be useful for everyone. I've just started off my own page for this on my hobby site, as my memory for URLs is very bad, but I know that the quality of a webmasterworld page would be a 1000 times higher than anyhing I would achieve on my own.

I see this as a French Plagerism bot, looking for copyright infringements and such. I banned the puppy- did not check robots.txt before he started grabbing!
