Links on Framed sites...

...do these count for link popularity?

I was wondering, do links on a framed site count towards link popularity or can the search engine spider not follow these, and therefore ignores them?

Yes if the site is set up correctly - it just depends on how the authors of the site have set up the frames pages.

If you can identify the page filename and pullup the individual file using a browser with the Google toolbar, if the page is ranked it will probably benefit you to get a link from the page.
