Tracking Link Popularity

forgive the newbie-ness(??) of this question but, do you just use the search engines to keep track of how many sites are linking to you? or is there software available that can track it?

there are a number of services that will check Link Popularity for you and even send you monthly report via email. Try these:-

[linkpopularity.com...]
[linkpopularitycheck.com...] (also compares your popularity to three other sites nominated by you)
[submitcorner.com...]
[marketleap.com...] (also compares to three nominated sites AND a basket of similar sites)
[webmasteraid.com...]

and so on.
