I have not spent a cent on Overture's bidding system. In fact, I think it is most likely the worst thing known to any Internet user. Regardless of that though, I understand it's importance.
So, this leads into my next question...
Is it worth bidding $0.01 per click solely for the purpose of showing up in their database and making it out there to their other partners?
Do their partners sort the results any differently or just mimic the higher-cost, higher-rank idea?
Should I suck it up and spend the $0.01 to get into some more results?
FWIW - I'm in a VERY competitive market...

1. Minimum bid on Overture is $.05
2. VERY competitive markets usually have high bids on relevant keyword phrases, although you can find some inexpensive gems occasionally
3. It is all about ROI. At the end of the day, are you making more money?
I would not even be concerned with #1 and #2, I would run a test. Evaluate your #3 (ROI), and then adjust your promotion efforts accordingly.
For some reason I thought I saw search results that were listed for $0.01 - but that may have been some weird overture partnership - or more likely - Looksmart.
Again, thanks for the information - it's much appreciated. And yeah... #3, seems to be the main issues anyways~!
