For example, say, 30 domains pointing to a website will raise the domain site's link popularity.
I am currently attempting to research further the difference in relevancy between identical domain sites that have domains with varying domain name extension link popularity linked to it.
24 .com and 5 .net and 1 .org --> CLIENTDOMAIN
versus
30 .com --->CLIENTDOMAIN
versus
30 .net -->CLIENTDOMAIN
etc. domains pointing to a website home page.
It seems to me as though the search engines, especially altavista and google, are putting more relevancy on sites that have a 'variety' of domain extensions (irrespective of reciprocal link HTML content) as opposed to all .com domain names that act as reciprocal links and these engines seem to be ranking domains, with varying exensions linked to them, higher.
Any input or insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
I think you are talking about a linkfarm. This trick has been usefull and might still give you some results in some SE for a short time. The SE's are picking up on these inflated link methodes and you might get yourself banned.
Go for real links and real content, that will never fail
IMHO
My question was concerning the differences, of domain extensions , and how they affect the ranking of the main page that carries the link popularity.
Is link popularity more potent if the sites linking to your page carrying the same domain extension or varying extensions? .edu .com .org Do these score differently?
I totally agree. We use random IP addresses and create real web sites on TLDs (a very time consuming and daunting task) from hundreds of different blocks and networks that are at our disposal as an Internet Service Provider. It helped us ranked a single word keyword "DSL" # 1 on 5 engines for 2 months straight. We have been lax and are just getting back into doing things. This board is great. Thanks for your input. I agree about the IP's and content 100% !
