Does anyone know of a research on how many clicks(in percentage) each search enginge result get(no 1, 2, 3 and so)? I've seen a lot of guessing and sentences like "studies have shown", but I really like to read one of these studies.

It would all depend on what terms [key phrases] you are talking about.

But if you are talking about click ratio for one particlual term when the site is ranked # 1 at all major search enignes, then you can get some good answers - but you might have to pool the results.

Generally in a competitive category [example: seo, casino, credit cards, loans.....], it is not really easy [however it is not impossible either] to get one site ranked # 1 at all major search engine at the same time for one particual good key phrase.

I think I didn't explain myself clearly enough, sorry for any inconvenience.
What I meant was:
When a searcher performs a search (keyword is irrelevant) he is served a
page with 10 - 15 results and can click deeper if he wants to. Obviously Top
10 positions will receive more traffic than, say those pages in the 80-90
range, but how much more? How much more traffic does 1st place get, compared
to number second, third, and fourth? Maybe Number 5 receives more traffic
than number 1 since the link is displayed in the middle of the screen? What
I am looking for is any research that has been done on this field.

Well, on Goto.com, for my KW sets, traffic doubles when I am sitting in the #1 position, compared to when I am sitting in the #2 position. This of course is not exactly comparable to any other engine necesairily.

Man, I wish I knew where I saw the stats last, but I seem to remember that most people do not go past the first page of results of a search, and very few travel past the third page.

From my stats (238 sites)

A # 1 gets 2,8 times more clics then a # 5.
Sites on first pages gets 68% more clicks than on second page.
Sites on first pages gets 88% more clicks than on third page.

(Note that some pages like MSM show more than 10 results per page. This is why I used "on page" numbers exept for the first page)
