Hosted in Canada = less traffic from the US?

I own a site which is hosted in Canada. I get visitors from Canada searching with 'pages from Canada' option on, and even with that option off I get higher positions in the results of Canadian versions of the major search engines.
That is good, but is it possible that I rank lower in the US SERPs because I am a 'Canadian'?

Nope; the SE's don't care about whether or not you are Canadian. But it is possible that you get less U.S. traffic because your Web site is Canadian. ;-)

Now there is a question: why not host your site in a secondary market country, like the UK or Canada, and get advantage in SERP, beause your competitors are not shown in the localized versions of search engines?
