how to promote the jumbo portal on the web

I am new to seo,I have a huge portal and i dont know how to promote it i have done SEO onpage and offpage,
Submited that portal in to major search engines,
I would like to know is there any techniquies to promote my portal excepts above.....

help me regarding this

A portal is a portal and thats fine. Usually you dont just setup a site and call it a portal and expect traffic to come to it and search engines to love it. In most cases portals are used after the traffic has secured itself through organics and then is pursued to be a portal for other sites. If you are building a portal site you must keep in mind it has to be quality unless of course you are doing the unmentionable "black hat" techniques which i will never get into here. If you want a quick portal however I will give you a tip. Instead of trying to SEO a new site as a portal site and get your hopes up, search for domains that have presence in the search engines already and have expired...there are many out there you just have to look. Once you find a domain name (for which ever niche or industry) that has previously been up and receiving good traffic get that and build from there. Portal sites can be from any topic, niche, industry or category if your main intent is using it to get others to another site. Take care.

This portal contains inforamtion about the educations, and world famous persons life,events,achievements,chronology...
Its Biography portal which should be use full to students
