Anyway I just had to laugh at this ad offering submission to 600,000 SEs! I have seen them offering hundreds, and even thousands but this is the highest number I have seen so far. Anyone seen any higher than this?
It get's funnier they offer their price for as little as $9.99, and say they offer hand submission! Must not be much of a profit margin.
Do people really fall for this stuff? I hope this one didn't get sent to my boss too. He was mad enough over the last one promising top 10 on over 1000 SEs. Just think of the potential he might see in this one! :)
Oh yeah.
You should see some of the emails I get from new clients, when they get their first couple spam promotions. We're writing a boilerplate answer right now, just because it happens so often that we want something close at hand.
However, 600,000 is by far the biggest claim I've ever seen. Funny, when I did the search I found a page of black magic spells: "I command thee, submit. Your will is mine. I am thy master. Submit Demon, submit."
I wonder if the spell would work with "I command thee, page, rank!"

I think you should do us all a favour and post it on here. Save me writing one!
All my clients are harassed by the Traffic Magnet spammers... as indeed I am.
These people feed on igorance.
"Monthly submission to over 800,000 search engines and web directories.
Website META tag optimisation by a team of experts.
Free professional advice.
A Comprehensive monthly submission and ranking report."
Biggest I've seen.
When I explained to her that we did not want to be added to link lists and set ourselves up for an avalanche of spam because they were submitting to so many places that just collected information and used it for their own purposes, she tried to defend the fact that indeed there were at least 9,000 prominent search engines and the fact that I didn't know about them just proved my ignorance. Not, IMHO a good way to get clients, eh?
Brett:
LOL! She even had the gall to insult my web site. ;) Stupidly she did so assuming that I paid someone else to make the site, but since most of my business revolves around actually creating sites for other, of course I made my own. She neglected to see this in advance so I thanked her for the evaluation of my work in a way that she won't soon forget.
I too usually hang up before they get to make idiots of themselves, but it was just one of those days. I let her set herself up, which she did appallingly well and numerous times. Simply amazing what they will promise you. The bad thing about it is those that do not know better fall victim to this stuff and pay a price for their ignorance.
My last question to her revolved around a Yahoo listing ;) Since she was promising to move heaven and earth for me I figured the least she could do was get me a decent listing in Yahoo without paying for it. I think that finally flustered her and her whole schpeal fell apart. Evil of me huh?
If the girl that called me was a telemarketer she was doing a wonderful job of improvising on the script. ;) I know what you mean and I guess that's the chance telemarketers take when cold calling people.
