"You have entered a search term that is likely to return adult content.

Click here for search results on 'raylene' at NightSurf.com
NightSurf.com is an independent adult search service.

Go Back to MSN Search"

That is amazing! Plus it looks like they are making money from the click throughs.

It makes perfect sense.

MSN can brag about having a "family friendly" search, all the while making money by referring people on their site to an adult only search directory/ engine.

Although, I was surprised that one could just click through msn to the adult search site...I guess they couldn't track it any other way, though.

So much for being a family friendly search!

raylene? Good heavens, what sort of degenerate would search for a term like "raylene"??? :)

Next comes searches on "jolene" or "marylene", or who knows what else! Good thing MSN had the courage and grace to warn you what sort of path you were travelling down, eh?

That is a brilliant way for an SE to make $$$ off @dult searches though... if the other SEs implemented a scheme like that (with perhaps more narrowly targeted 'flagged' words), the @dult SEs might have a hard time keeping up with the affiliate fees...

I agree! There has to be a fine line of what terms are flagged. I just stumbled over raylene. Just so happens to be a famous porn star with that name. I did a little more checking... "breast" is an OK term. I would think that "breast" might fall on the other side of the fine line, but oh well. If you know anyone named Raylene, you better search for their last name.

I was surprised to find "bo*bs" an ok term.

Noticed that they accept searches for "black pussy cat" - but not without the cat.

(I was of course looking for a kitten)

what really burns me is they assume every search with an 'adult' term is porn...

for example, type in 'adult hosting' and you are forced into a porn engine that has no listings for hosting, just porn with nothing for the adult webmaster.... that really burns me up... no body should waste traffic like that

Not that i ever used MSN search anyhow... but I certainly won't now. Not that I spend all my time searching for @dult material or anything, but I hate having my software second-guess me. It's like the Office paperclip for the web...
It looks like you're trying to search for something naughty. Would you like to (check one):
  • ( ) re-try your morally questionable search on an @dult search engine
  • ( ) cancel your naughty search and look for something more wholesome

  • I can think of a few people I know who would be just tickled by this development though. Maybe Microsoft is looking to expand it's web presence in the Bible Belt?
