SEO options in shopping cart software

Just got the software a few days ago...what is this?

I understand this post will make me sound like a newbie, but the truth is i've never dipped into SEO before using my strengths in online marketing elsehwere.

We're setting up a store and i just got the company shopping cart software which has an option in the admin called SEO settings. Here is what I see:

Site META description: (box for typing)
Site META keywords: (box for typing)
Include categories' META data into the site meta tags: (checkbox)
Include products' META data into the site meta tags: (check box)
Page title format: (2 options: 1. store name, cat. name, product name. 2. product name, cat. name, store name.)
Maximimum length of page title element...set to 0 if not apllicable: (box for typing)

Update button.

I know this is pretty basic, but what should I do here?

If you are talking about oscommerce,it has a SE friendly component that you can implement even yourself by simply editing the .htaccess file. You can also take help of their knowledge- based support and community forum.
