hosting multiple domains in one account

will it have any affect on google indexing?

Recently (or at least I noticed recently that) hosting services started to offer standard packages for hosting multiple domains in one account. That is to say, you purchase a hosting package, and use it for hosting several, say 6 domains.

It is really seems economical to buy just one account, and use its untapped resources for any number of domains you may have, instead of buying additional hosting packages for each and every domain.

But I wonder if such a scheme will have any negative impact on the sites' indexing or ranking performance with Google, or with other search engines for that matter.

Is there anyone with relevant experience in this regard? Comments are much appreciated!
Thank you.

There have been a lot of arguments on both sides of this issue, from what I have seen, read and experienced myself, the SE's look at domain names, not IP's.

Some examples:

I have on one host provider, 20 domains on one IP address. The more established ones do very well, one is a PR 5, others are 4's, etc. I do utilize some cross linking among them and have been doing so for a couple years.

Some large hosting companies will have dozens, if not hundred of domains on a single IP address. The SE's know this and if one of those hosted sites is doing bad things it makes very little sense to penalize the other sites of honest webmsters.

Others may debate this and i certainly am no Guru, but I do have control over about 50 sites and am making over a grand a month from Adsense so I am pretty comfortable with my methods and experiences.

Thank you for the answer Moishe.

In fact, I found and read quite a lot on this issue. For example:
[webmasterworld.com...]
[webmasterworld.com...]
[webmasterworld.com...]

All discussions on this issue in fact involve the issue of shared IPs vs. dedicated IPs which means that considerations surrounding multiple domains on one hosting account are exactly the same considerations surrounding shared IPs.

And to ease the fears about the shared IPs, I found a hosting company that offers hosting accounts with multiple domains with dedicated IPs. One such company offers 6 dedicated IP addresses for one account.

It seems perfectly reasonable to get an account and host, say, 6 domains at the price of only one account!

I think it depends entirely upon what you will do with the sites on those domains. Six terrific, legit sites, on different topics, not linking to one and other, should be no issue to my knowledge.

Six site all cross linked and within the same category, well that is another matter.

Yes, I think it depends how one uses such multiple domains.

Personally, I have some +10 registered domains for diverse fields and each with a unique content and unique target audiences.

Previously, costs of buying separate accounts for each domain was a real issue. But after becoming aware of this opportunity, I started to seriously consider to launch these sites one after another. After all, the only thing required is some labor and hard-work to add content, and develop sites slowly in time.
