Redirect bad for SEO

Hello all! Several of my site's pages are listed on MSN with descriptions; my main page however has no description. It is a redirect. Could this be the problem? Should I go back to the frowned upon splash page?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Can you describe a bit more the nature of the redirect?

It is a permanent redirect. I made it in cPanel.

P.S. I have used a spider simulator program, and it got through it just fine.

Sorry quinnurkey, I guess what I meant was, why are you doing what you're doing? What do you mean "go back to a splash page"? You had something else as a homepage, but now you're redirecting from the old homepage to a new one? Where do inbound links go to - to the old homepage? How long ago did u set up the redirect? Etc.
