Hide links.?

What does that really mean?

Hi,

I have a bunch of links to other pages on my site right at the bottom of my main pages. I place them as a light grey color without any link line. The style decoration I put it to none. They look something like this:

#*$!xx ¦ sssssss ¦ gggggg ¦ooooooo¦ tttttt

Do you think the SEs will think they are hidden links? They are really not (not my intention) as I want to separate the look of my more important links like Contact Us, About Us, Terms and Conditions.

Any advice?

Also I have some titles that I have made linkable and have put style decoration to none as well. I don't want them to have the ugly link line and want them to be another color aside from blue. Do you think that is categorized as hidden links? Again they are done that way for asthetic reasons yet I want to be sure so we don't get penalized.

Thanks and have a good year ahead.

If the link is visible then I don't believe you will have a problem. It is really only a problem when you deliberatly make links the same colour as the background or use css or some other technique to hide them. It sounds to me like you are trying to get anchor text into links but you don't want people to click on them. That is not really hiding links but rather camouflaging them. If you don't need the links then don't put them in.

Hello Ska,

Thanks so much for your response. Happy New Year!
So great that it won't get me into any trouble for my links to other pages of mine.

As for the achor text links, do you know anyone that has gotten into trouble from putting titles as links but make the style decoration none? I know google was very specific about hidden links but I don't think this would fall under the category of hidden links right?

Anyone had this problem before?

I don't see a problem. Caveat: If it's done in a very spammy sort of way, and the site comes under a hand check by a SE employee, it could conceivably be one signal that the site owner is inclined to use little tricks to fool the SE's. If you're doing it for style and layout reasons, I certainly would not worry about it.

You are right Caveman. I've have now made them normal links. I think it is safer that way.

Also does any one know what is the max % for keyword density that is acceptable? TQ
