Hey All,

I read somewhere that font size 7 tells the search engines that it is a very important key word and so they will place great weight on it.

I know that font size matters however, is it true that font size 7 will tell SE's to put greater weight on it?

And I also read that hiding it under the top frame is a very good design trick because the words in size 7 are quite ugly and deserve to be hidden.

My question to that is...isn't this considered spam?

Any would would be appreciated!

Beas

My first inclination would be that yes, this would be spam and you would get penalized for this if you were caught.

I have never heard of any extra weight being put on the Size 7 font, but you should wait for one of the experts to give you a definite answer.

Mostly they like large headings near the top of the page. If you get too many words on a page in large print - they throw it all out.

Brett,

Don't theyn usually consider it spam if they notice that the text is too small?

I remember hearing this and sice have shyed away from using small text on my pages.

re: text to small.

I don't know how they could do that anymore Agerhart. Font size one is used everywhere (like this page) these days. If there is a problem with it being readable, that is a browser problem, not a page author problem. The days of too small text are long gone.

Thanks guys for you input. I still have another question... if you hide it under the top frame is it still considered spam? I would think yes since you are "hiding" it, but I would like someone else's opinion.

Thanks for your help.

>I would think yes

One person's spam is another's tried-and-true technique, so you're asking for a subjective call. To answer another way, I think that the search engine police would view it as spam.

That's my feeling also. Thanks rcjordan.
